Voice and Vision features award-winning artwork by teens from across the country who were recipients of Gold Medals in the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Each work in this exhibition was selected through a rigorous national adjudication process that sought to award works based on originality, skill and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
The title of this exhibition takes its name from that third criterion to emphasize that each piece in this show provides a unique individual perspective: on family, on culture, on perception, on the nature of the human spirit.
Represented here is a collection of works by creative and thoughtful young artists whose various motivations compelled and empowered them to make a brave attempt at translating the world around them. As viewers, we are asked: Can you see how I see? Can you feel how I feel?
Presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the United States. Established in 1923, the Scholastic Awards bring the work of young people to regional and national audiences. Former recipients include artists Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Kay WalkingStick and John Baldessari, and writers Stephen King, Amanda Gorman and Joyce Carol Oates.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are made possible through the generosity of numerous individual, foundation and corporate funders. To learn more, please visit artandwriting.org/support.
Voice and Vision is on view in the Martin Building, lower level, Wonderscape.
