Denver is so much more than ski slopes and a cow (boys and girls) town. In fact, Denver is one mile high. A mile is 5,280 feet and it feels like there are 5,280 great things to do when you are here. Yes, we do love our ski areas, rodeos and National Western Stock Show. Denver boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year - more than anywhere else in the country - so, we spend a lot of time outdoors.
Our mountains and ski areas are world renown (ever heard of Vail or Aspen?) so we do sort of have to mention them. They are not too far a drive and great fun for the whole family. Enjoy winter activies like skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, tubing and sledding or summer fun like zip-lining over canyons, hiking or mountain biking, or tubing down a river. But, that is not all that Denver is about. Denver also boasts nationally acclaimed theater (several touring shows start in Denver), museums (Denver Art Museum - which is free to kids 18 and under, Denver Children's Museum, Dinosaur Ridge, Devner Firefighter Museum, Wings over The Rockies Air and Space Museum, Railroad Museum), the Denver Zoo, the Downtown Aquarium, parks, and the Butterfly Pavilion. We also have theme and water parks (WateWorld, Elitch Gardens and Lakeside Amusement Park).
Folks in Denver love our sports teams with Denver Broncos (football), Colorado Rockies (baseball), Colorado Avalanche (hockey), Denver Nuggets (basketball), Colorado Mammoth (lacrosse), Colorado Rapids (soccer) and several great college teams nearby.
This is only a few of the 5280 things to do while you're here. Check out ColoradoKids.com for great deals and discounts on our many attractions and fun!

Denver is a fabulous year-around family destination be it for a long weekend, week or even an entire season. There are four actual seasons in Denver, so just pick your favorite and then get out here to explore.
With a variety of things to do in Denver you’re sure to find something for everyone. From art museums, outdoor concerts, catching a game with one of the four major league sports teams that call Denver home, to getting outside and enjoying the outdoors. And, there are a lot of things to do outside when you consider that Colorado has 300 days of sunshine a year! Catch a show during the summer at Red Rocks, strap on your hiking boots and hit a local trail, or spend the day enjoying Washington Park.
While you’re in Denver, venture up to Summit County, home to some of the best skiing in the United States (and the world!) - Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail and Copper Mountain. While you’re there do a little hiking, biking, white water river rafting or if it’s during the winter – hit the slopes!
After a long day exploring the Denver scene sit back and sip on a local craft beer at one of the 70 breweries in Denver – there are more than 300 in Colorado – and most are family friendly.
Denver has so much to offer for families, and I've just scratched the surface. Make sure you check out DenverKids.com for helpful information on many of these family activities and great offers to help you have fun and save money on your vacation.
